Le Tissier and Clinton up for PFA award

Manchester United Women players Maya Le Tissier and Grace Clinton have been nominated for the 2023/24 PFA Young Player of the Year award.

Players in the Women’s Super League have been voting to establish the standout performers during last season, ahead of the PFA Awards ceremony in Manchester next week.

Le Tissier and Clinton have both made the final six, alongside former United Women player Lauren James, who now plays competitively for Chelsea. The other nominees are Aggie Beever-Jones (Chelsea), Khiara Keating and Jess Park (both Manchester City).

The winner of the award will be announced at Manchester Opera House on Tuesday 20 August.

Reds nominated for PFA awards

Le Tissier’s nomination comes on the back of a really fine season for the Reds, which climaxed with the capture of our first major piece of silverware – the Adobe Women’s FA Cup – since the team was formed in 2018.

The 22-year-old defender was an ever-present in the Women’s Super League for Marc Skinner’s side, and also helped the team keep a clean sheet in the 4-0 FA Cup final victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

In Apri.

Grace Clinton, meanwhile, spent the year on loan with Tottenham Hotspur – the club we vanquished in the aforementioned cup final.

Clinton scored four goals and provided four assists over the season, and was instrumental in Spurs’ journey to Wembley – though sadly, due to the terms of her loan arrangement, she was not able to take to the field against United in the final.

Nevertheless, Grace’s nomination is a deserving reflection on an outstanding campaign, which also led to a brilliant goalscoring England debut in February.

Congratulations to both players!
