Vitek seals season-long move

Radek Vitek will spend the season away from Manchester United, as he is joining Blau-Weiss Linz on loan, subject to registration.

The Austrian Bundesliga should provide valuable experience for the 20-year-old, who illustrated his potential with an outstanding display in our opening pre-season friendly, against Rosenborg in Norway.

Vitek made a string of fine saves before the home side scored a late winner in Trondheim as he continues to build his reputation.

Ins and outs: Summer 2024

The Czech Republic Under-20 international, who signed for the Reds in 2020 from Sigma Olomouc in his homeland, has risen through the Academy and shown his qualities.

He kept goal for the  performing well in the final against Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford, and has caught the attention of the Austrian club.

Blau-Weiss Linz were promoted in 2022/23, after being formed in 1997.

Their local rivals, LASK Linz, played United twice in 2020, in the Europa League, with the first leg, a 5-0 victory away from home, the final game before the Covid pandemic struck.

We’d like to wish Radek the very best for his spell at his new club, where we will be following his progress very closely.

Meanwhile, another Academy keeper, Tom Wooster, is spending the season on loan with Farsley Celtic but will continue to train regularly at Carrington.
