It was on 23 August 1997 that Real Madrid lifted their fifth Spanish Super Cup. In that edition, our team beat Barcelona 5-3 on aggregate in the final. The first leg was played at the Nou Camp, where Madrid lost 2-1. Three days later, they came from behind to win the trophy with a convincing 4-1 win at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Raúl was the standout performer, scoring Madrid’s only goal at the Nou Camp and then grabbing a brace at home to guide the team to victory. In the return leg, Mijatovic and Seedorf also scored.

Real Madrid to face Barcelona in the Super Cup semi-finals

The match will take place on Saturday 21 September at 6.30 pm at the Palacio de Deportes de Murcia.

 

Real Madrid will begin the official 2024/25 campaign with the Endesa Super Cup, which will be played on 21 and 22 September in Murcia. Following the draw that took place in the courtyard outside the Palacio de San Esteban, the Whites will face Barcelona in the semi-finals.  The match will take place on Saturday 21 September at 6.30 pm (CEST). Should the madridistas advance to the final on Sunday 22 September, they will play the winners of the clash between UCAM Murcia and Unicaja.
