Ancelotti nominated for Best Coach at Ballon d’Or Awards

The Madridista is one of six contenders for the trophy, which will be awarded on 30 October by ‘France Football’ magazine in Paris.

 

Carlo Ancelotti is one of six candidates for the Best Coach of the 2023/24 season award, which will be presented by France Football magazine on 28 October at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.

The Italian coach enjoyed a spectacular season, leading Real Madrid to a treble by clinching the Champions League, the League and the Uefa Super Cup. He also enhanced his legacy in football history by becoming the first coach to win five European Cups. Following the Uefa Super Cup, Ancelotti equalled Miguel Muñoz as the Madrid coach with the most trophies in the club’s history (14).

Lunin has been nominated as one of the candidates to win the Yashin Trophy for the best goalkeeper of the 2023/24 season, awarded by France Football magazine. The goalkeeper is on the list of 10 nominees for the award. The winner will be announced at the Ballon d’Or gala on 28 October in Paris.

The Ukrainian goalkeeper played 31 games for the Whites and his performances were instrumental in lifting three trophies (Champions LeagueLaLiga and the Spanish Super Cup). A special mention should be made for his saves on the road to La Decimoquinta, where he was in goal for Real Madrid in the knockout stages.

Lunin was pivotal in the quarter-final against Manchester City, saving two spot-kicks in the penalty shoot-out. He also started the Spanish Super Cup final against Barcelona.

The other goalkeepers in the running for the Yashin Trophy are: Diogo Costa, Donnarumma, Kobel, Maignan, Mamardashvili, Emiliano Martinez, Unai Simon, Sommer and Williams.

Arda Güler has been nominated as one of the candidates to win the Kopa Trophy awarded by France Football magazine. This award honours the best player under 21 years of age and the Turkish star, who is in his second season as a Madridista, is hoping to secure the prize after making his first appearances for our club and after an outstanding European Championship performance. Güler was part of the Champions League, LaLiga and Spanish Super Cup treble-winning side, scoring six goals last season. In the European Championship, he was one of the most prominent players for Turkey, who reached the quarter-finals.

The winner of the Kopa Trophy will be announced at the Ballon d’Or gala in Paris. The other nominees are: Curbasi, Garnacho, Konaté, Mainoo, Joao Neves, Savinho, Tel, Yamal and Zaïre-Emery.
